Three months

Congratulations baby, we've made it past your "fourth trimester"! I have to be honest, I was too cocky about alot of things at first. At the hospital you were always sleeping and so quiet I thought, "my baby will be a self-soother, she won't cry too much"...and then you came home and cried (and cried and cried). Next I thought, "oh no, I have a high needs baby and she will cry all the time" but then you eventually (eventually) stopped. Now three months in I know that you are a perfectly content baby existing exactly in the middle of the spectrum, neither too calm nor too excitable, and you cry when you're hungry or sleepy. And I know now that labels don't matter, whether "self-soothing" or "high needs" I would still love you more than anything in the world. I love you when you're crying (even in that shrill, hyperventilating cry), when you're so sleepy but just refuse to fall asleep, and when you poop the moment I finish changing your diaper (or even better while I'm changing your diaper).

You're growing right before my eyes and doing something new every day. You've discovered your hands and just stare at your fingers as if examining everything about them before jamming your whole hand in your mouth. You smile and laugh so much now I feel like the most entertaining person in the world. And boy do you talk up a storm! Every coo and squeal melts my heart. So thank you my charming girl, for making every day of these past three months such a blessing.

Just as a size reference, Rocky has at least 7 lbs on Olivia. She could ride him around the house if he'd let her.
