Bela sent us this book a while back and told us to read to Olivia every day. Since O is awake longer and so observant now, we started reading to her yesterday. The first story was "The Gingerbread Man." Fitting for the season, since the holidays are coming and gingerbread lattes are back, right? Wrong! The gingerbread man is a jerk! A nice little old lady makes him and instead of being grateful, he runs away and taunts everyone he meets until a sly fox tricks and eats him. This story teaches ingratitude and dishonesty. The second story was "The Princess and the Frog" which starts with breaking a promise and ends with a marriage based on vanity! We'll keep reading her stories, but may tweak the endings a bit so that O can sleep like this

ReplyDeletewe should all make up stories for the kiddos based on our real life experiences. all they'd involve is eating, dancing and being stupid. you'd have the read them to olivia in our weird accent haha!
